February 16, 2026

Donors across St. Thomas and Elgin County stepped up to strengthen Emergency care at STEGH, because when every second matters, our community shows up.

STEGH Auxiliary Kicks off Giving Tuesday with Incredible $25,000 Gift

We are proud to share that our Emergency Department campaign has officially come to a close, reaching 100% of our fundraising goal and marking an important milestone for care at STEGH.

Together, our community raised a quarter million dollars in support of Emergency care. Your gifts have helped strengthen our Emergency Department by supporting the people, tools, and programs that Dr. Pace and our teams rely on during critical moments.

Because of this generosity, our hospital is better equipped to provide fast, compassionate emergency care, today and into the future.

On Giving Tuesday, the STEGH Auxiliary and McDougall Energy helped launch our community’s season of giving with generosity and heart. Their support reflects the pride, care, and commitment that define St. Thomas and Elgin County — and set the tone for a season rooted in compassion and community.

McDougall Energy stepped up with a generous $2,500 gift!

Your donations are funding vital upgrades, including:

  • Advanced patient monitoring, with new physiological monitoring systems, electrocardiographs, and vital signs monitors that help care teams assess and respond quickly when conditions change
  • Safer treatment for injuries, supported by a specialized cast cutting saw and vacuum system designed to reduce skin injury and improve safety in clinical spaces
  • Improvements to the Emergency reception area, with renovations that support patient privacy, smoother flow during busy periods, and a more organized arrival experience

Thank you for joining others in our community who want to make sure exceptional emergency care is here when it’s needed most.

Stories From the Community

Many donors have reached out to share their own experiences with STEGH’s Emergency Department - stories of quick action, compassionate care, and moments when every second truly mattered.

One of those stories comes from Paul, who experienced the care of STEGH’s Emergency Department firsthand. In this short video, he shares what that moment meant to him and why compassionate emergency care close to home matters so much.

Every call, every story is a source of inspiration for all of us here at the Foundation and across our hospital. If you have a story you’d like to share about your experience with STEGH, we’d love to hear from you.
